MISSION STATEMENT

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Right to Life Ministry advocates the cause for life and promotes the Catholic Church’s theological truth that all human life, at all stages, is sacred, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. As such, the issues that our Right to Life Ministry deals with can range from abortion and contraception, to family issues, to euthanasia, and to the help of healing of those who have been involved in or have been touched by abortion. One of our primary focuses is on ending abortion through prayer, education, and action because this sin alone has done more to destroy our nation and world than anything else in history.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

The Right to Life Ministry of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, strives to achieve the following:

Pray for the Living and the Dead: Prayer is of primary importance and we ask all to pray daily for the end of abortion and for the triumph of the Culture of Life over the Culture of Death. The daily Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy are especially powerful prayers for the cause for Life.

Instruct the Ignorant: We strive to share with others the Gospel of Life as put forth by the Catholic Church, preaching the innate dignity, respect, and protection of every human life from conception to natural death.

Counsel the Doubtful and Comfort the Afflicted: We are available to speak with those struggling with issues regarding Life and connect them with resources and organizations that can help them, ie. Rachel’s Vineyard, Assure Pregnancy Clinic, and information on end-of-life issues.

PRAYER AND EVANGELIZATION ACTIVITIES

·         Hour of Prayer Services: Held twice a month from 9:50 am to 11:00 am on Fridays. 2nd Fridays are on ZOOM; 4th Fridays are at the FPA Clinic at 1060 N. 13th Ave. in Upland.

·         Patriotic Rosary: Held monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month on Zoom at 8:00 pm to pray for our nation and our leaders.

·         Prolife Prayer Rally: Held three times a year, in February, June, and September or October, in front of pharmacies, with the purpose to pray and to educate people on how the abortion pill and chemical contraceptives can cause abortions, harm women, and harm the environment.

·         Participate in 40 Days for Life Campaigns: At local abortion clinics, held in the Fall and Spring.

·         Participate in One LIFE LA Walk for Life: In January in downtown Los Angeles.

·         Daily individual praying of the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the end of abortion.

PARISH ACTIVITIES

·         Right to Life Ministry Meetings - 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in Room 6, Avila Hall

·         Walking with Moms Meetings - 3rd Friday, every other month, beginning each Jan., 7:00 pm in Room 4

·         Sanctity of Life Booth – Typically, 3rd Sunday of January

·         Respect Life Sunday Booth – 1st Sunday of October

·         Mother’s Day Rose Sale Booth – 2nd weekend of May

·         Various Pro-life/Pro-Family Presentations - For parishioners and parish groups

SUB-MINISTRIES UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF SEAS RIGHT TO LIFE MINISTRY

·         Spanish Right to Life Ministry - Also known as the Spanish RTL Sub-Ministry. We are currently seeking to revive this sub-ministry which works in unison with the English-speaking RTL Ministry.

·         Walking with Moms in Need Ministry - A USCCB initiative to help pregnant and/or parenting moms in need to access the resources they need, at the parish & community level.

 ·         Caring for the Whole Person Ministry (CWP) - A state-wide initiative of the California Bishops and Catholic healthcare systems that enable each parish to provide community support and meaningful resources to individuals and families for optimum care and health practices at any stage of life. We are currently seeking someone to lead this sub-ministry.

WALKING WITH MOMS IN NEED

SEAS Walking with Moms in Need (WWMIN) seeks to support pregnant and/or parenting mothers in need in our parish and greater community, through access to resources and through authentic Christian friendship. We strive to provide practical resources for the mothers and their families that come to us for help, through donated resources (baby clothes, gift cards, etc.), through services (postnatal help and education, job search, etc.) or through referrals to organizations with free or low-cost resources that share our vision. Through this endeavor, we hope to foster a greater recognition of the dignity of human life in our community and instill a culture in which a woman never has to be afraid to bring her child into the world.

• WWMIN has meetings every 3^rd Friday of the month in Room 4 of Avila Hall.
• In September, we hold a Information Booth in the parish Courtyard after all Masses.
• In March we hold a Gift Card Drive, in the parish Courtyard after all Masses, to benefit the mothers and families we serve.
• We host a Baby Shower once a year for pregnant and new moms in need in our parish and community. Parishioners are invited to come and celebrate by bringing an unwrapped baby item and enjoying food and party games.
• We attend Resource Fairs in the Community, where we give out donated baby/children’s clothing and items, parenting literature, and our resource website, for the purpose of reaching out to more moms and families.
• We partner with other WWMIN and Respect Life Ministries in the West End Vicariate of the Diocese of San Bernardino to provide the best help for moms and families in need.
